Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of European Society of Surgery (ESS) and the Local Organization Committee I look forward to welcoming you to the XVI. Annual Meeting of the ESS, November 22-24, 2012 in Askeri Museum, Istanbul, Turkey.
One of the principal aims of ESS is the foster relations and encourage the exchange of information between surgeons of the developed and developing countries. The selection of the location for ESS 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey is not coincidental. Similarly to how ESS works to provide a networking bridge between surgeons in the developed and developing world, Istanbul has been a melting pot of culture and commerce.
We believe, ESS 2012 Istanbul will be largest to date, a true bridging of surgeons from around the world.
The aim of the ESS 2012 Istanbul is to deliver latest developments and technologies of surgery to the attendance. We try to create an update information transfer from cutting edge science to daily practice.
To meet these goals, ESS 2012 Istanbul will showcase cutting edge presentations by some experts in the field of recent developments in clinical and practical aspects in Surgery. A multitude of courses, panels, video presentations, and problem-based discussions will provide both intensive learning through hands-on experiences and direct interaction with faculty. Sessions on broad spectrum of general surgery, as well as a scientific abstracts competition will take place to review and forecast current practice trends in Surgery.
The Local Organization Committee is comprised of the presidents of all subfield surgery societies of Turkey. Thus, a comprehensive scientific program included nearly every aspect of Surgery practice.
Istanbul was selected to be a European Capital of Culture in 2010 for its incredible history and tradition. With such an exciting opportunity at hand, we warmly invite you to join us and participate in ESS 2012 Istanbul. You will meet new friends from around the world, make lasting academic friendships, and explore the unique beauty and exotic charms of historical Istanbul.
