The 38th Congress will be held in Istanbul at the kind invitation of the Government of Turkey, a founding Member State of CIESM. It will take place in the heart of Istanbul in the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center, not far from Taksim Square, a sector rich in hotels of all types and restaurants.
Istanbul is one of the most unforgettable cities in the world. It is ideal for a conference-exotic but comfortable, relaxed but elegant, historic but modern, buzzing with excitement, commerce, tradition, and life. In April the trees are in bloom and their fragrance fills the air along with Turkish cuisine. Considered one of the world’s greatest destinations, the city reflects the splendors of the past Ottoman and Byzantine Empires, and is spread over European and Asian shores.
The Congress shall cover all marine sciences, from marine geophysics to marine microbiology. It will be officially opened by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, along with high representatives of the Host Government. The programme will comprise morning panels on CIESM projects and other emergent issues, and afternoon committee sessions, with both oral and poster communications.
